CFHS Chronicles

The Clark Family Homeschool Chronicles is an extension of ACv Family Talk. Dive deeper with AC as she chronicles the seasons of parenthood. She shares what it tangibly looks like to instill good old-fashioned home training and character-building. AC reflects on lessons she’s learning along the parenting journey, from discovering how children are wired, homeschooling with purpose, equipping leaders, and getting the Word of God into our children’s hearts; it’s all under the umbrella of training children at home. The aim is to be faithful stewards of the precious gifts God has blessed us with.

2.11 Treasure Seekers

Thursday Apr 17, 2025

Thursday Apr 17, 2025

While our children are young, it's important to impress upon their little hearts a desire to seek treasure! The kind of treasure the culture does not value, but it is what God calls true treasure. As our children mature into adulthood, we want them to become equally invested in seeking the treasure found in God's Word. Their salvation, rejection of folly, and richness of character are proof that we made a God-honoring impression!

2.10 Bubbleth Over

Friday Mar 07, 2025

Friday Mar 07, 2025

What fills the heart bubbles over into our speech and behavior. As parents and, by extension, primary influencers of children, what fills the heart bubbles over into how we steward the things of God. When the heart is filled with God's righteousness and zeal for the things of God, it bubbleth over. Our children get the overflow of what our Father in Heaven teaches us. When we help them see the contrast between what can refresh or poison the heart and the subsequent behavior, they will prayerfully desire God's best for their life.

1.9 Craft Time

Thursday Jan 30, 2025

Thursday Jan 30, 2025

When our children are babies, life revolves around nap time. Nap time transitions to quiet time when they begin school. By age 10, children can work independently, and their unique quirks, gifts, and talents begin to emerge. Quiet time transitions to what The Clarks call "craft time." This is the season when parents get to partner with their children to reinforce their identity in Christ and help them discover creative ways to glorify God with the gifts and talents He put in them.

1.8 The "S" Word

Friday Dec 20, 2024

Friday Dec 20, 2024

There is a category of "s" words that many Christians will not use in polite society despite it being a part of what constitutes Christ-centered discipleship. There are a lot of seemingly controversial discussions we can get away with in public, but mentioning the "s" word will cause mixed reactions. Join AC as she explains the "s" word and why it should be a regular part of our children's discipleship training at home.

1.7 Teaching Jealousy

Saturday Sep 28, 2024

Saturday Sep 28, 2024

Unchecked sibling rivalry is a seed that will grow and bear rotten fruit in adulthood. While our children are young, parental favoritism, boasting, and a lack of godly and healthy "refereeing" of those fleshly tendencies are a few opportunities to be vigilant and ready to respond. Who can stand against jealousy that produces embittered and deeply insecure adults? Join AC as she highlights what God says about this matter, what the world will tell our children, and how she and Hubby give their children aim and security.

1.5 Family Court

Saturday Aug 10, 2024

Saturday Aug 10, 2024

Family court is our way of holding our children accountable for their actions at age-appropriate levels without taking away from the joy of learning, character-building, and family fun. Join us as we highlight how the wise King Solomon judged between two harlots in Scripture, compare and contrast how the world will treat its own, and the Clark Family's creative way of acknowledging poor behavior while having fun through family court proceedings!

1.6 Story Time

Friday Aug 09, 2024

Friday Aug 09, 2024

When our children cut up, act out, and misbehave, we have a choice, parents. Match their folly or tell them a story!  Redirecting the negative attention-seeking behavior and unwillingness to obey our parenting is a telltale sign {pineapple!} for us as parents to show them their folly through the lens of Scripture. Join AC as she tells a story of how wandering away from purpose, being off mission, and disengaged as parents will lead our children towards repeating our folly. Tell them a story!

1.4 A Mother's Influence

Friday Jun 28, 2024

Friday Jun 28, 2024

There is a misconception that homeschooling is simply an alternative choice to public and private schools. Generations of parents habitually pass their children over to the culture and systems with no regard for foundational home training. As a result,  children are woefully ill-prepared for adulthood. AC highlights the incredible power mothers have as primarily female influencers in the home, what it looks like to break generational patterns of abdicating a mother's influence, and reengage with our children.

1.3 Language Learners

Friday Jun 14, 2024

Friday Jun 14, 2024

Life and death are in the power of the tongue. The same instrument we use to pour into our children and build them up can also kill their spirits and tear them down.  Blessing and cursing can not come from the same mouth. Teaching our children the implications of what comes out of their mouths and how followers of Christ should use the instruments He's given us should be a priority when training children at home.

Friday Jun 07, 2024

Our children are young for only a brief season. We have a small window of time before they become adults to teach, train, and prepare them to go out as sheep among wolves. Our role as parents is to introduce them to sin, how it corrupts relationships, and prepare them to navigate the effects of sin on a fallen and broken world.
